MEDICAL TRUST DEALS WITH FINANCIAL WOES

Otaihape Health Ltd was established in the 2006 and grandly known as Integrated Health and Disability Service. The new community trust, in the form of Otaihape health LTD would look after and maintain all the health service delivery in the local region. This was again done in accordance and jointly with two already existing trusts as well as the O'Taihape Maori Komiti.

Find out how the charities are benefited by charity volunteer work of the children through We Care Project. It also acts as fundraising for schools as the supporting schools are rewarded with contributions to acquire necessary technological equipment. Visit www.wecaregib.com for more information.

There were some issues when it came to talking about medical facilities or for that matter retaining doctors, surgeons in Taihape. Thus the main idea behind the set up of this trust was to provide with avant-garde facilities and medical equipments to doctors and thus provide for better health and care for the local residents. For the purpose the Ruanui Trust was set up to better assist the workings of the town’s health care facility for elders Ruanvi House. About $2.2 million worth of investments was proposed in the year 2006 by the WDHB.

This would thoroughly refurbish and renovate the heath care facilities in the town. But then this new trust as to be set up would end up providing inpatient, continuing care and community care services. The plans at the heart of it was looking at making optimum use of the towns limited medical services and help these practitioners serve the people better by further medically equipping them with the advanced technologies.

None the less Otaihape Health Ltd (OHL) which got its funding from the WDHB ended up deeper in debts which it was finding difficult to pay back. Right from running inpatient services to recruiting and retaining staff became financial problems which were very difficult to be dealt with. As of now the future of OHL remains unsure and bleak. This is even as WDHB ponders about the money it spent on OHL.
